Tentakel, Platzierung, Fütterung, Licht und Strömung: unsere Tipps zur Haltung der Torch-Koralle Euphyllia glabrescens, mit Steckbrief der Wasserwerte.
Tentacles: Euphyllia glabrescens, also known as the torch coral, has tentacles that can grow up to 5 to 10 cm long at night and can sting neighbouring corals. Euphyllia glabrescens with fluorescent tips can be placed next to other Euphyllia species such as Euphyllia paraancora and Euphyllia ancora, as they do not sting other Euphyllia corals.
Placement: Place your coral roughly two thirds of the way up the aquarium, where it gets moderate flow and low to moderate light intensity. Leave a gap of 5 to 7 cm around this coral so that it does not sting neighbouring corals.
Feeding: Although they host symbiotic algae called zooxanthellae, which supply them with nutrients through photosynthesis, they benefit from additional feeding with LPS powdered food or, for example, small mysis shrimp.
Lighting and flow requirements: Euphyllia glabrescens needs moderate water flow and moderate light (PAR 150-250). T5, metal halides or LEDs can all grow torch corals if the right PAR values are provided. We recommend a colour spectrum of 15-20K for the best colouration.
