More About Our Quality
Quality starts long before a coral is shipped.
A healthy coral is not created on the day it ships â it is the result of months of consistent care, stable water parameters and husbandry modelled on the natural conditions of a coral reef.
Since 2017 we at Premium Reefing have been passionately keeping and propagating a wide range of SPS and LPS corals as well as selected invertebrates for the marine aquarium hobby. Our aim is to give every animal the best possible conditions and to offer our customers only healthy, vital and carefully cared-for livestock.
That is why we invest time, modern equipment and a great deal of experience in our systems every day. For you this means one thing above all: healthy corals, intense colours and the best conditions for a successful start in your own aquarium.
Our systems â perfectly tailored to the needs of the corals
SPS and LPS corals have different requirements for light, flow and water parameters. That is why we do not keep them together, but in systems specifically tailored to their respective needs.
This allows us to create optimal conditions for every type of coral and maintain stable water parameters over the long term. Our systems are monitored around the clock, key parameters are regulated automatically and checked regularly. This is complemented by consistent water changes and balanced feeding.
Our SPS system
SPS corals are among the most demanding corals in the marine aquarium hobby. To develop intense colours and grow healthily in the long term, they need particularly stable water parameters and precise supplementation.
That is why we rely on high-quality supplementation systems, modern lighting and continuous automatic monitoring of all key water parameters.
Our equipment
- Oceamo DUO System
- Oceamo Regulator A
- Oceamo Regulator O
- ATI Straton X
- ATI Straton Pro G2 102
- Focustronic Alkatronic Pro
- Focustronic Dosetronic Pro
Typical water parameters
- KH: 7.4â7.6 dKH
- Calcium: 430â440 mg/l
- Salinity: 35 PSU
- Nitrate (NOâ): 0â5 mg/l
- Phosphate (POâ): 0.03â0.06 mg/l
Regular maintenance
Once a week we add Fauna Marin Bacto Blend to specifically promote the microbial diversity of our system. A stable bacterial population supports the biological balance and contributes to consistently stable water parameters.
In addition, our SPS corals receive a varied mix of high-quality frozen food, plankton and powdered food every day. This keeps them optimally supplied with important nutrients so they can grow strongly, develop intense colours and show their natural vitality.
Our LPS system
LPS corals also benefit from consistently stable conditions. Although their requirements differ somewhat from those of SPS corals, here too we place the greatest importance on precise supplementation and consistent water parameters.
Our equipment
- ATI Essentials SPS
- ATI Daily A & B
- AquaLEDs aquaBAR Gen4 Reef
- EcoTech Marine Radion G5 Blue
- Focustronic Alkatronic Pro
- Focustronic Dosetronic Pro
Typical water parameters
- KH: 7.9â8.1 dKH
- Calcium: approx. 420 mg/l
- Nitrate (NOâ): 0â5 mg/l
- Phosphate (POâ): 0.06â0.08 mg/l
Regular maintenance
In our LPS system, too, we add Fauna Marin Bacto Blend once a week to support the system's biological stability over the long term and maintain optimal conditions for our animals.
Our LPS corals are also fed daily with a balanced mix of frozen food, plankton and powdered food. Regular feeding supports healthy growth, strong polyps and natural colour development.
Quarantine and health checks
Every newly arrived animal goes through at least 14 days of quarantine with us. During this time, all corals are carefully observed and checked for pests and unwanted hitchhikers.
Only when we are satisfied with their health do we add them to our range. This reduces the risk of introducing unwanted pests and gives our customers animals that are as well prepared as possible for their new home.
Consistent water care
Above all, healthy corals need one thing: stability.
That is why we carry out a water change of around 25% every two weeks in both systems. This removes unwanted substances and continuously replenishes important trace elements.
In addition, we check our systems daily and monitor all relevant water parameters. This allows us to react early and ensure optimal conditions for our animals at all times.
Copy our setup
Almost everything that runs in our systems is also available in our shop. We have divided it into three areas so you can see what belongs together. Which size of light, filter and pump is right depends on your tank. If you are unsure, just send us your volume and stocking.
Equipment: testing, dosing, lighting and filtration
- Focustronic Alkatronic measures KH several times a day and adjusts automatically
- Focustronic Mastertronic for calcium, magnesium, nitrate and phosphate
- Focustronic Dosetronic doses our supplements
- AquaLEDs aquaBAR and ATI Straton X for lighting
- Red Sea ReefMat as a fleece filter, the ReefMat 1200 in the large systems
- Red Sea ReefRun DC as return pump and Red Sea Reefer DC Skimmer as protein skimmer
- Hanna pH calibration solution 4.01 and 7.01 for the Alkatronic electrode
The testing set contains the Alkatronic, the matching KH reagent and the Hanna 4.01 and 7.01 buffer set.
Supplementation: Oceamo DUO and Regulator
We dose DUO KH and DUO Calcium in a 1:1 ratio. On top of that come Regulator A with inorganic trace elements and Regulator O with amino acids and iodine, both dosed separately. As a set you get all four bottles together, in two sizes depending on your tank and consumption.
ICP analysis: keeping an eye on trace elements
A drop test shows KH, calcium or nitrate. But it cannot tell you whether trace elements are missing or something is building up in the water. That is why we have our water regularly analysed by ICP in a lab. We use the Oceamo ICP-MS analysis and the Fauna Marin Reef ICP Total. With both, you receive the sample kit at home, send in the water sample and get the results. If something is missing, we correct it with the single elements from Fauna Marin.
Quality you can see
Equipment alone does not make healthy corals. What matters is the combination of experience, consistent care and a daily eye for every single animal.
From daily feeding and weekly maintenance to continuous monitoring of all water parameters, every step follows one clear goal: to give our corals optimal living conditions at all times.
That is why our animals only leave us once we ourselves are convinced of their quality.
Our goal is not simply to sell a coral â but for it to thrive in your aquarium in the long term and bring you joy for many years.
