Catalaphyllia jardinei, the elegance coral, is one of the most magnificent LPS species. Long, coloured tentacles, often with pink tips, grow from a cone-shaped skeleton over a broad oral disc. In the wild it sits on soft substrate in calm lagoons, so in the aquarium it should also be placed on the sand. It needs plenty of space, as its stinging cells are powerful. Stable water parameters and careful acclimatisation are key to keeping it successfully in the long term.
