Citrus Ricordea | Frag

Care at a glance

Typical requirements of the genus – individual specimens may differ.

Difficulty

Easy – very hardy and adaptable.

Light

Low to moderate; too much light makes the discs shrink.

Flow

Low to moderate.

Placement

Lower zone or shaded areas, ideally on their own rocks.

Feeding

Ricordea and Yuma readily accept small pieces of food.

Mushroom corals such as Discosoma, Rhodactis, Ricordea and Yuma are among the most rewarding corals for a reef aquarium. Their flat oral discs, some covered with small bubbles, show bright colours that look particularly intense under blue light. They cope well with little light and moderate nutrients and reproduce by division. Ricordea and Yuma close their disc around small morsels of food when fed. Allow some space, as mushroom corals can slowly spread across the rock.
