Zoanthus and Palythoa are zoanthids that form dense carpets of small, intensely coloured polyps. Hardly any other group offers so many colour variants – from neon green to orange and multicoloured collector pieces. They are hardy, grow quickly and are excellent for beginners. Ideally place the colonies on their own rocks so they do not overgrow other corals. Please wear gloves when moving them, as Palythoa in particular can contain the toxin palytoxin.
